A Stanford and U. C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall graduate, Mr. Nolan left the international and maritime San Francisco-based firm Graham & James almost ten years ago to establish his own offices in Walnut Creek, California.

While he claims to have "sailed in most of the arcane backwaters of the law", in reality his legal expertise is in the area of formation of new business ventures, and provision of professional advice to private business owners and operators in a full range of legal subjects from purchase and sale of stock and assets to both drafting contracts and litigating over their alleged breach.

In short, Mr. Nolan acts as a one-person “general counsel” to non-public commercial clients.
